St Pancras Old Church

Today I went past St Pancras Old Church. The graveyard has been shaved a little to accommodate the Eurostar Terminal. It's not the first time. When the Midland Railway was being built here in the 1870s young Thomas Hardy was the architect with the job of relocating graves. It's reckoned to be one of the oldest sites of Christian worship in Europe. It was also one of the venues on the Beatles Mad Day Out photo session, as seen in the gatefold of the red and blue albums.

By a complete stroke of luck I met Tom Murray last year, who also shot a few frames on the MDO. He'd had a call from Don McCullin to assist on a 'band shoot' but hadn't been told which band so only a took a few rolls of film - you can see a selection here.

King's Road is a great place to spend an afternoon ticking off heavy-hitting pop culture sites from The Beatles and Stones to Monty Python to John Osborne and Disraeli Gears. I made a cut out and keep guide earlier this year
