My lips are sealed

The last thing they made us do before we left the final judging of the PPA Awards yesterday was sign an agreement that we wouldn't divulge what we knew. I'm amazed that they think it's worth the trouble. When I have a secret like that I'm never tempted to tell anyone because telling them could never be as deeply satisfying as the feeling you get from sitting on the secret. And what if you did tell somebody and then some post-judging argument about eligibility meant that what you told them turned out to be wrong? Doesn't bear thinking about.

I think we can guess - Heat, Grazia and Glamour all do very, very well...

Don't forget Radio Times, all Observer freebies and Closer.

I'm assuming that "Popworld Pulp" won't be getting anything - Shame, it wasn't a great mag but my 13 year old loves music but can't find any writing about it that's not aimed at girls. (He's still a bit wee for NME)

I happened to be in the offices of the NME last week when Popworld Pulp dropped onto the desk of editor Conor McNicholas. We flicked through it in amazement. It's the NME in all but word-count. In fact, it makes even the picture-heavy NME look like Mojo. I'll give it four issues. (And what a surprise that not a single writer is credited.)

Anyway, presumably the awards all go to New Statesman.

++++++++++STOP PRESS+++++++++++

Just read on Media Guardian website that Popworld Pulp has folded after two issues. How wrong I was.

Go on, you wicked tease. Tell us, tell us!
I've got twenty quid on Toilet and Bidet Weekly, and I'm beside myself.

I remember being at an EMAP awards ceremony one year and a man from Bus and Coach Weekly - or it may have been Refrigeration and Air Conditioning - having a go at our Television Week award, as we were at the glam end of the trade mag spectrum, as opposed to his hard-working colleagues in the travel/coldness biz.
